What is the minimum age of the students you work with?

My studio currently offers instruction that is best suited for students who meet the following age requirements:

Piano4 years old & above

Guitar7 years old & above

Bass10 years old & above

Parents: Please note that I typically follow these age requirements closely, but exceptions to this guideline may be made on rare occasion depending on the individual student. If you're interested in lessons for your child but have questions about the age requirement, please contact me and I'll be happy to meet for a free consultation.

What styles of music do you teach?

Thanks to the wide range of styles the guitar is capable of, I have played and taught various styles of music over the years, including Pop, Rock, Country, Classical, Jazz, CCM, and more. From timeless classics to their favorite artist's latest album, my students are welcome to explore the world of music through the guitar with me.

Both of my children want to take lessons. Can they take lessons together?

Depending on your children's ages and readiness levels, taking lessons together can be a great way to learn a new skill together. Siblings taking group or "buddy" lessons together can often encourage each other to do their best during and in between lessons.

However, everyone is different. Some families benefit more from having separate individual lessons instead. If you are considering lessons for your children/family, you may schedule a free consultation to discuss the best options for you.

I'm left-handed. Do I need a left-handed guitar?

This is a question that is highly-debated within the music and guitar community. To learn more about my general advice on this topic, watch my video explaining some pros and cons to playing a lefty guitar. Personally, I play guitar left-handed and have no regrets! If you have more specific questions, you are welcome to contact me for recommendations.

I'm over [x] years old, retired, etc. Is it too late for me to learn?

Absolutely not! Learning guitar is a process that takes practice and patience, regardless of age. If you are considering picking up the guitar later in life, go for it! You may even be surprised at the benefits it can offer your mind and overall mood. When you're ready to take the plunge, I'd love to have a chat to discuss how I can help you along your journey!
